Our story
On a sunny day in the autumn of 2009, Willem-Jan Bakker, his wife and their two daughters were having breakfast in their kitchen.
They had a beautiful kitchen island and adored the idea of sitting around it as a family. They were imagining themselves cooking whilst the kids were at the kitchen table drawing, or having family breakfasts and playing board games together.
The bar stools they had were fine for adults, but not very suitable for kids. Willem-Jan thought: wouldn't it be nice to raise our Tripp Trapp high chairs, so the kids can also safely sit at the kitchen island?”
With nothing on the market at the time that could elevate the Tripp Trapp, Willem-Jan took matters into his own hands. He asked a local carpentry company to cut two gutters out of a think wooden beam, where the legs of the Tripp Trapp could be placed into.
It was heavy and a little bit unwieldy, but – it worked! It was just meant for themselves so it didn’t need to be perfect, just functional.
A little while later, Willem-Jan’s hairdresser approached him. She asked him if he could make her one that she could use to cut children’s hair in her salon.
More and more people started to ask about the chair booster, and Willem-Jan started to think that this might be something more people would be interested in. Maybe this could be a real product.
The search for a manufacturer began, and after lots of hard work, the first proper BoosterMe was made. In 2018, BoosterMe was founded.
Family has been at the heart of BoosterMe from the very beginning: it was how the company started, it’s how the company is run today and it is what dictates what we will do in the future.
We believe that spending time with your family and seeing your kids grow up is one of life’s greatest joys. We’re hoping that by making the BoosterMe, we can help families spend more meaningful time together, even just a little.
